Join us at the library for a Children's Program during a Parenting Class by FYI (Family and Youth Initiatives) of New Carlisle!

Guiding Good Choices will cover topics like:

Importance of Family Meetings
Specific actions that promote healthy development
Strategies to build family connections

Metal Detecting Basics 
Ever wanted to find a treasure or discover lost artifacts? Learn how to metal-detect with a presentation by the Dayton Diggers. They are a non-profit organization that will teach you the basics of detecting, including how to select a detector, how to get permission to detect, and some of the exciting things you may find.  Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on.  Please pre-register by emailing readingisimportant@gmail.com.

Stop by the Circulation Desk and ask for your mini canvas. Use any media (paint, crayons, ink) to decorate the canvas with an animal theme. Take a photo of your completed creation and email it to readingisimportant@gmail.com for display on the library's social media channels. Prizes!

Teen Summer Reading:  Read to Rescue

Read for a purpose. Read for the animals. Read to rescue!
Our local animal rescue, His Hands Extended, lost their vet and they are struggling to stay open. Your librarian will donate $1 to His Hands Extended for every teen in 6th-12th grade who signs up for Read to the Rescue, with a $350 maximum contribution. Let's read this summer to help the animals!

Thanks to a partnership with Children's Hunger Alliance, children age 18 and younger can stop by the New Carlisle Public Library this Friday, July 9, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. for two shelf-stable lunches and two shelf-stable breakfasts, while supplies last. Please bring a bag to transport your weekend meals.
